From the Executive Director

Matt Young, Ex. Director
Welcome to our website! I am glad that you have chosen to discover more about the Arts and Humanities Council and even more excited about all that you can do from our site. It has never been easier to learn more about the Council’s services, programming, and funding opportunities. From our site you can download a grant application, read about an upcoming cultural event, or schedule a conference room or theatre at historic Central School Arts & Humanities Center in downtown Lake Charles, a hub for creative thought as well as educational and cultural activities.
The Arts Council endeavors to support, nurture, and create arts and cultural scenarios for Lake area residents. We are in sync with the vibrant needs of a growing region and serve as both advisor and assistant to people and programs in our community. Our mission is to interweave public and private funding with an extensive partnership network in order to produce quality arts programs and performances, exceptional educational programming, and engaging regional-specific events.
It is an exciting time for the Arts Council of Southwest Louisiana. We encourage you to become a part of our community by joining the Council as a member or a sponsor. The benefits of membership will be long-lived as we strive to create lasting progress for our community by propelling artistic events and brilliant entertainment into Southwest Louisiana’s future. Enjoy your journey!
