Volunteer at the Arts Council

VOICEWe are delighted that you are interested in becoming a part of our volunteer group.   Hosting more than fifty events annually isn’t easy for a small staff; therefore we depend heavily on our reliable group of volunteers.  The acronym VOICE is an abbreviation of Volunteer Opportunities Inspiring Creative Energy.  The focus is on community involvement in cultural and educational events.  Through the development of this program we are able to offer the ability to pick and choose the volunteer opportunities in which to participate.  You decide how often, what type of event, and where you wish to become involved.

The inception of the VOICE program in 2007 created many opportunities for volunteerism in the more than fifty programs and events presented by the Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA throughout the year.  Lunch meetings provided by the Arts Council are held and allows time for everything from planning upcoming events to folding newsletters.  The meetings are enjoyed by attendees, allowing them time to socialize a bit as well.  The positive response from volunteers validates our mission and purpose of providing fun and exciting opportunities for community involvement.

The Council sees a true awakening in the arts community that encompasses our area.  To make it work, we need to support the efforts of all of our presenters, galleries and events.  If you are someone who has always wanted to see how things work behind the scenes of an art event, VOICE is for you.  If you enjoy the excitement of live music, dramatic presentations, fine art shows and the like, VOICE is for you!  This committee will enable residents to do only those things that interest them the most, and allow them to showcase both their volunteer abilities and their community spirit.  To signup as a VOICE volunteer, please contact Jackie Dowden, Community Development Coordinator, at (337) 439-2787 or cdc@artsandhumanitiesswla.org
